JANUS

     2 suites

     available

The JANUS simulator is designed to train the staff of an element up to battalion size in command, control, and communication.  This system can also be configured for convoy operations and homeland security.  It is a mobile system and is contractor supported.  Future plans are to incorporate mobile trailers to enhance availability.  The system is comprised of either CPU’s or laptop computers and any number can be networked together.  There is an AAR capability of each scenario and all participants can see the entire scenario replayed.  There are two suites located in the state, one is at Fort Harrison and the other is in Belgrade.  We have demonstrated a capability to have one JANUS fight against an OPFOR on the other JANUS over the internet.  The system is stochastic in that the locations of the assets of other entities are virtually unknown to the other elements.  It is also 6 sided so different entities can be involved, such as for homeland security.  With the addition of the SINCGARS Desktop Training Set, or SDTS, SINCGARS radios can be incorporated for added realism.

ARSI - ARPA RECONFIGURABLE SIMULATOR INITIATIVE

     4 Bradleys

     4 Abrams

The ARSI simulator consists of four Bradley’s and four Abrams.  All positions are replicated for each vehicle and controls are done through touch screen technology and handles.  This is mainly a maneuver trainer but all crew coordination and position functions can be practiced on this simulator.  Various terrains are available for familiarity.  There is a stealth capability available and can allow the O/C to observe the entire operation from the air.  The OPFOR is also available and can be run electronically or by the operator.  Communication is included in each vehicle and can be transmitted to Black 6.  This simulator is only located at Fort Harrison and is not mobile.  This system is contractor supported.  Scenarios are very easy to develop and all the unit needs to provide is an OPORD, enemy template, and graphics a minimum of 30 days out.  This is to enable the contractor to develop the scenario and proof it with the using unit before the day of use.
