WHAT ABOUT US?

When I asked a young soldier of the Montana National Guard what he did this weekend at drill he said.  “I flew in a helicopter, I did physical training, I learned about my job as an Operation Specialist and hung out with some great people and made more money than I could of anywhere else in town.”
          There are so many things to say about the Montana Guard it is too much to write about in this article, but here a few things.
          The Montana National Guard is loaded with education and training opportunities that have a positive impact throughout the state, nation and world.  The Montana Guard is progressive and competes with any other service in the country today.  The way things are going, the Montana Guard will be counted on more throughout the world.  We are team and a force that is strong.  If you are part of our team already, you understand.  If you are reading about us for the first time, the Montana Guard stands ready to help you grow into an educated, diverse, professional soldier with a sense of purpose.  All you need is dedication and self discipline.  We can help you with that too.
          Over 80% of the Montana Guardsmen and women today have been deployed in the last three years and they can tell you, if your bag is not packed, get ready.  The only thing for sure in the Montana National Guard is change, and the people in this organization thrive on challenges and opportunities.   
          The Montana National Guard is transforming into a leaner and more mobile organization and with 22 armories located throughout Montana there are units for both men and women to join. The education opportunities are outstanding, and if you have a thirst for knowledge and need help to go college the Montana National Guard is the right place to start.   
          The units in Montana are training hard, and they are training for the real deal. The Montana Guard has some amazing real-time realistic training that will put you in the moment and the fight. 
          The Montana National Guard is rich with history.  Our success comes from the service of quality people of the past.  The tradition will continue with the Guardsmen and women of today, and the heroes of tomorrow. 
          The Montana National Guard was established on March 10th, 1887, and has grown into one of the most diverse and capable organizations on the planet today.  It is easy to say this given all the different events the Montana National Guard has been involved lately.  From Federal deployments overseas to state active duty, the Montana National Guard has been there to serve and take care of many of the needs of people throughout the world.
          It is said, we are only as good as our people.  In Montana, you can’t find a better quality of people.  Montanans have a long proud history of hard work and hard play.  The Guardsmen of today juggles many things.  Family, work and recreation are just a few of the values that we all share.  We have a beautiful state that we all enjoy, and the Montana Guardsmen and women today, know that to enjoy it…we must take care of it.  We fight the fire, stop the flood, and move the people to safety if the need arises.   We are ready to respond 24 hours a day to any emergency that arises.
          We are the people in Montana that will put the down the plow and grab the musket, when the balloon goes up.  We are the people that value our state and nation and take care of our families and future.  We are the people that work as a team and keep our eye on the big picture. We are the people that love Montana and all the resources available.  We are the people that serve our state, and protect our nation.  We are Montanans and we are the Guard, proud and true.
